Epic training tonight crew
For those that are Keen to compete or jump in for the first time iv put together this blog with some helpful links and info
first is the link to SMOOTHCOMP, Smoothcomp is the soft wear that most comps use for competitor to enter comps and Memberships, for example some comps will require you to have a membership to compete mainly in Australia it will be AFBJJ.
When you evert the smoothcomp site you will need make a profile, fill in your personal details and were it asks for academy we use DC AUSTRALIA.

After you make a profile you can g to events were you will find all the comps coming up and info about them. many comps have different formats so by clicking on the comp you will find all the info you need.
As in any sport the rules play a huge part an d knowing the rules is always better then not knowing them, in Jiu Jitsu it can be a bit tricky to navigate as each even can have its own rule set for example ADCC a NOGI event have much different rules then a AFBJJ or IBJJF event, come smaller club comps may do round robin events to give a better value for money and bigger events are more elimination and more expensive.
Generally fr GI events most comps use the IBJJF rule set for on the mat rules and uniform, linked below
Link to IBJJF Rules (videos included) — https://ibjjf.com/books-videos
Link to IBJJF uniform rules — https://ibjjf.com/uniform
For most NOGI events ADCC rules are adopted, Linked below
Link to ADCC rules — https://adcombat.com/adcc-rules-regulations/
** PLEASE NOTE RULES ARE ALSO DIFFERENT FOR BELT AND AGE DIVISIONS **
While training its good practice to use the scoring system for both GI and NOGI to help your training over all
for example with GI the point are set out in a forward moving manner bar one exception, Knee on belly.
Iv placed a pic of the GI point structure below
ADCC has a different set of rules for its points listed below
I hope this info helps and remember to read up on all things from weight divisions, rules and uniform requirements
see you all on the mats soon crew
