BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling based martial art focused on controlling and submitting an opponent using technique, leverage, and positioning rather than strength. It emphasizes ground fighting, where practitioners use holds, joint locks, and chokeholds to neutralise and defeat their opponent.
One of the core ideas of BJJ is that a smaller, less physically strong person can successfully defend themselves against a larger opponent by using proper technique. Training typically includes drilling techniques, positional sparring, and live rolling (sparring).
BJJ is practiced for self-defence, sport competition, and fitness, and is known for building problem-solving skills, discipline, and confidence.
NOGI / SUBMISSION GRAPPLING
No-Gi is a style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practiced without the traditional gi (kimono). Instead, athletes wear rash guards and shorts, which changes how techniques are applied.
NOGi relies more on body control, positioning, and clinching rather than holding onto clothing. This makes the pace faster and often more dynamic, with a strong crossover into wrestling and submission grappling.
It focuses on takedowns, control, and submissions like chokes and leg locks, and is widely used in both sport competition and mixed martial arts (MMA).
WRESTLING
Wrestling is a grappling based combat sport focused on controlling an opponent through takedowns, positioning, and pressure. The goal is to bring your opponent to the ground and maintain dominant control.
Unlike Jiu Jitsu, wrestling does not involve submissions. Instead, it emphasizes balance, strength, speed, and technique to outmaneuver and pin or control an opponent.
Wrestling builds strong fundamentals in takedowns, body control, and top pressure, making it a key component of effective grappling for both competition and real world application.
