level 1 (No Submissions)
Level 2 (Submissions allowed)
9 - 12 years
level 1 (No Submissions)
Level 2 (Submissions allowed)
Kids will be separated under the one class based on above
Concept-based learning
teaching principles (base, posture, frames, pressure, timing, connection, etc.) that underpin techniques. Instructors break down moves into “Why, What, How, What if” steps and use active recall and targeted sparring to reinforce concepts. For example, after demonstrating a technique, students “wrestle in the position” to practice real scenarios, giving repeated situational practice without overwhelming variety.

HOW DC JIU JITSU APROCHES SUBMISSIONS FOR KID’S CLASSES
At DC Jiu Jitsu, we believe learning submissions is an important part of developing a complete Jiu Jitsu athlete. However, when working with children, safety, control and understanding always comes first.
Our kids submission training is designed to be age, belt and skill level appropriate.
Children are taught that a submission is a controlled technique, not an opportunity to hurt their training partner.
We want our students to develop the ability to control their own body and their partner's body before developing the ability to finish a submission.
Key learning points we teach the kids while learning submissions
Applying techniques slowly and with control.
Understanding when a submission is secured.
Recognising when their training partner has tapped.
Releasing the submission immediately when their partner taps.
Communicating with their training partner.
Respecting their partner's safety at all times.
Never forcing a submission through resistance or pain.
DC Jiu Jitsu Used a two tier system when it comes to submissions.
Level 1 students - NO Submissions allowed (white belt kids)
Level 2 Students - Limited Submissions allowed (red stripe)
Level 2 students gain a red stripe on the black tab of the belt that indicates they are ready to start applying submissions.
Please note * Submissions are only allowed when two students with red stripes partner up.
If a student with a red stripe and a student with no red stripe partner up, no submissions will be allowed.
Below a list of submissions allowed in class, Submissions are only allowed when two students with red stripes partner up.
